About the event
Meeting at 7pm, we will start our evening in search of Nightingales. Making our way through the woods, we will listen for these incredible songsters as the males hold their territory and sing for the females attention. We will keep our ears out for Firecrest, Blackcap, Chiffchaff and Willow Warbler as well as Whitethroat, Siskin and Bullfinch. As the light starts to drop, we will position ourselves to hear the incredible cryptic Nightjars as the males chur and wingclap over our heads. Woodcock should also be 'roding' over our heads with their bizarre croaking squeaks.
As we walk back to the cars by moonlight(and headtorch) we will listen for barking Munjac, hooting Tawny Owls and watch our step for the toads and newts that frequently cross the path.
This is an easy walk with rough compacted gravel paths. It is wheelchair accessible, although maybe a little rough in places. The…
